As a Product Manager, or a leader, perception matters.
Product managers do not lead by authority – we, typically, do not have any authority over other departments. However, we need to influence and work closely with almost all departments within an organization.
One of the key aspects of this leadership is learning about how others see me. I need to be constantly aware and conscious about my team’s response to my actions. Do they respect my opinions? Are they listening to me at meetings? How do they respond when I challenge?
Perception is important.
